Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Tex.) and his wife allegedly accepted $600,000 in bribes from an Azerbaijani government-controlled oil company and a bank headquartered in Mexico, according to a federal indictment unsealed Friday in Texas.
The 68-year-old lawmaker and his wife, Imelda Cuellar, are accused of creating shell companies that entered into false contracts with the two entities, the indictment says.
