Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Inverclyde believe it was a targeted attack as the hunt for the killer continues.
Jack Trainner was found seriously injured on Brookfield Road, Port Glasgow, at around 9.05pm on Saturday April 27.
Emergency teams intervened, but the 27-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday, the police Scotland has launched a new appeal and invites anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie said: “Our thoughts are with Jack’s family.
“This is a very difficult time for them and I would like to reassure them and the wider community that our investigation into the murder is progressing and we are following a number of lines of inquiry.
“Investigations carried out so far indicate that this was a targeted attack.”
Officers continue to carry out door-to-door inquiries and have viewed a “large amount” of CCTV in and around the area.
Those who witnessed anything in the Brookfield Road area between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night of the attack are urged to contact police, as well as those who have private CCTV or dashcam footage that could help solve the case.
A online portal was set up to allow members of the public to submit information directly to the investigation team.

“The local community has been keen to help and we would like to reassure them that officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns should speak to them.”
