NEW YORK — Former President Donald Trump was found in contempt of court Tuesday for repeatedly violating a gag order, and the judge overseeing his ongoing criminal trial warned he could go to prison if he continues to break court rules.
“Defendant is put on notice that the Court will not tolerate continued violations of its lawful orders and that if necessary and appropriate in the circumstances it will impose a term of imprisonment,” the New York Supreme Court justice wrote , Juan Merchan, in an eight-page decision. Trump has violated this order nine times.
